The parables of Christ were often used when facing a hostile audience. Often it was used to confuse and conceal truth from the harden hearts and the shallow. It also was used to open hostile hearts to who they really are. Often that resulted in great anger and even a determination to kill Jesus. This was a merciful act to help those that would be honest to true repentance!
